This week on Soul Unexpected, we are blessed to have one of my favourite movers and shakers Sadie-Phoenix Lavoie, co-creator of Red Rising Magazine, community advocate, activist, matriarch and overall badass!

Sadie is from Sagkeeng First Nations, she recently graduated with a BA in indigenous studies and political science.

Red Rising Magazine launched their first issue back in 2015, and are now in their 8th issue which is available today!

Red Rising Magazine is an unfiltered space for Indigenous peoples to tell their stories about what is happening right now, and what is about to happen next, in their lives and communities. Red Rising hopes to inspire a new generation of Indigenous artists, thinkers, writers, and leaders in the community. The magazine is volunteer-run and nonprofit. It’s supported by generous donations from the community, and all proceeds go towards printing and distribution to the community.

Join Sadie and I, as she shares her experience as co-founder of Red Rising Magazine, what inspires her to do the work that she does, and what’s next for both Sadie and Red Rising!
